AI as a Creative Partner: ChatGPT’s Predictive Power in Advertising

Recently, I decided to put ChatGPT to the test with a real-world challenge: Could it accurately predict the performance of various ads in an active campaign? To find out, I uploaded five images from my ongoing advertising campaigns and asked ChatGPT to predict would perform best.

At the time of writing this, ChatGPT had accurately predicted which ads would be the first and second best performers. Initially, ChatGPT’s second choice was a close third in terms of performance. Impressively, over time, ChatGPT’s predictions have been validated, as it has correctly identified the top two performers in the exact order.

This outcome opens up a broader discussion about the role of AI in creative industries. ChatGPT’s ability to accurately predict ad performance suggests a promising potential for AI tools to support more than just operational or analytical tasks; they can also play a significant role in strategic decision-making.

Does this application negate the need for A/B testing? I wouldn’t go that far. However, in terms of using it as a tool to make similar decisions, I see it being a very useful companion. Currently, the version of ChatGPT that I use can only process images, but I imagine that over time I will be able to use it similarly with video content.

At the moment, I use ChatGPT as a personal assistant for a wide range of tasks, from spell checking to producing creative mockups. As AI technology continues to evolve, its integration into advertising workflows promises not only to streamline operations but also to enhance the creativity and effectiveness of our campaigns.
